Company provides a plan that includes remote workers ahead of hurricane season

Winter Springs, Fla., May 21, 2020 - Businesses in Central Florida are used to the routine of preparing for a hurricane strike after several close calls the past few years.
But, are you positive you're ready for the big storm, particularly with so many people working remotely?

Tech Rage IT is here to help you.

With hurricane season starting June 1, Tech Rage IT has released its Hurricane Preparedness Guide for Businesses: An Information Technology Plan, with a special focus on remote working.

"The surge of remote workers due to COVID-19, requires businesses to prepare in a different way," says Matt Rose, director of technology services. "An organization's business continuity plan should include remote workforce and teleworking for an extended period of time."

The guide highlights how to prepare before, during and after unexpected or catastrophic events to maintain businesses continuity.

Here is a sample of what's included:

  • Consider the essential resources your key remote workforce may need to continue business operations: power generators, portable charging stations, mobile WiFi hotspots, and phone landlines (in the event of mobile phone outages).
  • Identify potential co-working or off-site locations to perform essential tasks. Plan for closed roads, communications, data connectivity, desktops or laptops and workspace at those sites.
  • Redirect business phones to a softphone application to make VoIP calls directly over computers, tablets or smartphones.
